Regardless of the balance of your process, you owe it to yourself to mechanically dewater the product prior to processing.
Dewatering will:
Reduce Energy Costs
Reduce the process cycle time
Improve Hydrolyzing of the Product
Increase Process Capacity
Improve your bottom line
HYDROLYZING
Hydrolyzing is the process of heating products containing Keratin, like Feathers and Hair, under pressure forcing moisture into the cells causing the cells to rupture, shortening the protein chains, and making them digestible by some animals.
BATCH HYDROLYZER
The Alloy Batch Hydrolyzer has set several new standards;
Alloy can supply a replacement Hydrolyzer and, all components of the Hydrolizer. Alloy Hydrolizers are constructed according to ASME standards of design and manufacture. Alloy Continuous Hyrolyzers feature the Alloy Hydro 60 mechanical seals, eliminating the need for stuffing boxes and packing glands and the wear they cause.
Batch Hydrolyzer Discharge
When the HPHD system is used for feathers or hair, the traditional door is not used and replaced with a specialized knifegate valve as shown above.
The Batch Cooker/Hydroyzer then discharges through the valve and into a stainless pipe which encloses the discharged product in the pipe until it reaches a specialized cyclone called a Flash Chamber which spins the feathers until the velocity drops and they drop in to the bin below. The gases that created the pressure escape from the top of the cyclone and are transported to the odor control system.
There are two categories of Alloy Raw Feather Bins. The style you need will be determined by how your feathers arrive, by truck, off a dewatering screen, or in totes or barrels. In addition, the volume of feathers processed in a day and the capacity of feathers processed will also impact the bin design you need.
Receipt and transport of Feathers and Hair can present a challenge due to their tendency to "ball" creating a large mass of product making transport difficult. The Alloy RAW PRODUCT BIN is designed to simplify your process. Regardless of your need of a Truck Dump or what we call the Bob-Cat style bin, the bin utilizes a live bottom drag-bar bed and rotating "picker fluffer" shafts, on the discharge which break-up the "balls" of product and discharge the product to a collecting conveyor in small portions easing transport.
The discharge of the Raw Product Bin is equipped with three (3) rotating picker shafts as seen above to separate the product into smaller portions of the product to ease transport of these products that can otherwise be problematic.
HYDROLYZED PROTEIN BIN
The Alloy hydrolyzed protein works equally well on Feathers or Hair and has several design features to keep you processing:
Reverse repose - avoiding bridging
Dual Drives - providing metering and redundancy
Heavy Inline Reducers - designed to take the load and handle the rigors of 24 hour per day processing
Alloy offers all the popular options, Steam Tube, Disc and Direct fired options. Click the link to go to our Drying Page.
ALLOY HIGH PROTEIN HIGH DEGESTIBILITY (HPHD) SYSTEM
When it comes to Hydrolizing, Alloy recommends the Alloy HPHD (High Protein High Digestibility) system, Here's why:
Higher Protein Due to short cycle times
Higher Digestibility Again due to short cycle times
Less Equipment Imagine being able to hydrolyze the feathers from 250,000 birds per day in one (1) Hydrolyzer!
Less Horsepower Shorter cycles, less equipment and elimination of discharge conveyors result in lower Electrical costs
Enclosed process means significantly less odor in the facility and less load on the Odor Control System
Lower Cost per ton do more with less, Less Energy, Less Manpower, Less Equipment, Less Space
Compact system utilizes less space in your facility
The Alloy HPHD can increase the value of your meal, increase your capacity while reducing you cost per ton all while producing the highest quality meal.
The system begins with Mechanical Dewatering of the feathers and blood, cutting the mass to be processed nearly in half. Next we fill the hydrolyzer and hydrolyze the product and then we use the pressure of hydrolyzation to "blow" the meal to the hydrolyzed product bin, cycle time is 60 minutes; fill, hydrolyze and ready to blow the feathers to the Hydrolyzed Protein Bin awaiting transport to the Dryer.
Give Applications a call and let's walk you through your new system, or fill out the applications sheet and we will contact you already familiar with your needs.
