When it comes to screening your finished product, it can be done prior to hammermilling or after. Alloy recommends screening prior to milling and then returning the product to the screen. This approach offers two benefits. First, in a typical process a significant portion of the product is already to size by the time it reaches the screen, screening prior to milling removes the sized product prior to the mill reducing the amount of product to be ground (reducing wear on the mill). Second, returning the ground product to the screen helps assure the product is correctly sized and compensates for a potential hole in the mill's screen.
While we don't manufacture our own hammermill, we work with several manufacturers to provide you the best product at the best investment. Alloy supplied hammermills will provide you a consistent finished product at low operating costs per ton. The hammermills provided have easy service access, heavy duty bearings and can include an integrated magnet to reduce ferrous metal in you finished product.
Finished Product Milling is one of the most ignored portions of the process likely because it is the final process prior to storage or bagging.
However, the quality of the milling operation impacts the value of the meal and potentially the marketability of the finished product.
Alloys Application Group would welcome your contact regarding making your milling operation producing a better quality finished meal at a lower cost per ton.
Hammermill Air System
Hammermill Air Systems
Hammermills need to "breathe;" their performance requires air movement through the mill. Overall performance of Hammermill depends on a properly designed milling system that is more than just a hammermill and screen and should include a manifold, rotary valves, and a cyclone. Properly designed systems not only improve performance but reduce lost product and dust. This addresses safety concerns that surround milling dust, also. Alloy Applications Group is ready to talk milling with you and design a system that will produce more product, a cleaner work area, and reduce your milling costs. Please contact us to discuss your system.
