Alloy has supplied bins for all types of raw materials, offal, viscera, bones, and feathers. Regardless of how the materials arrive in barrels or truckloads Alloy has designed, built, and installed bins to meet your needs.
Alloy has already constructed and installed bins with capacities approaching one million pounds. Several of the bins built or replaced were constructed or assembled on-site, even under the most challenging of circumstances.
With nearly 70 years in the industry Alloy understands the rigors of the industry and knows how these bins need to be constructed to last for years. Give us a call and let's discuss the specifics of your application.
FEATHERS
There are two categories of Alloy Raw Feather Bins. The style you need, will be determined by how your feathers arrive - by truck, off a dewatering screen, or in totes or barrels. In addition, the volume of feathers processed in a day and the capacity of feathers processed will also impact the bin design.
Many processes need the raw material bin to be followed by a metering bin to regulate the feed rate to the actual process. Alloy also specializes in these types of bins. Large or small carbon or stainless Alloy will design and build the bin to fit your facility and meet your process needs.
The stainless steel feather metering bin shown above was designed to provide a correct fill volume for batch hydrolyzers.
PREBREAKERS are "multipass" grinders offering the most consistent sizing of materials ranging from offal (viscera) to bones.
Prebreakers are manufactured from heavy materials with hardfacing on all cutting surfaces extending time between service and equipment life in decades not merely years.
Design of the equipment permits user service of the equipment and the components.
These machines operate in the range of 100-220 RPM (shaft speed) they offer high throughput and high capacity per connected horsepower. They can be driven using belts and sheaves or motor and gear reducer configurations.
Available in 12", 15", and 24" diameters they can be used in a wide range of capacity requirements.
Most raw materials require size reduction, grinding, prior to processing. Alloy has supplied and serviced dozens of raw material grinders for beef, pork, lamb, and even horse applications as well as whole birds and hens.
Our familiarity with the industry provides you with a partner in your grinding project that has seen both what works and what does not. Why not give us a call and let's work together on your grinding project.
They operate at relatively low RPM's and lower Horsepowers than prebreakers but do not offer the same consistent sizing due to their single-pass design. Bones, in particular, can orient vertically and pass through the machine without having been reduced in length (or diameter).
These machines gained popularity due to their ability to be more tolerant of tramp metal if it enters the process regularly. When connected to a proper control panel motor load and can be sensed and reverse rotation if a large solid piece of metal enters the grinder.
Due to their design, they are more difficult for the end-user to rebuild the worn parts and their cost of repair can be higher per ton processed especially on bones. It is relatively common for users to have dual machines, one for a coarse grind and one for a fine grind.
